I know everyone is devastated, and what I’m about to say may not make any sense right now, but just hear me out.

To our amazing Egyptian team, what happened today shouldn’t break you, it should push you to never give up and keep on going! For 28 years, all the Egyptians thought it was impossible to reach the World Cup, but in fact, YOU took us there, that in itself a victory! You have put back that faith in all of us that we could win! Today is not the end, it is merely the beginning. Yes, in the eyes of everyone we may have lost, but we are not going to stop here! We are not defeated! You’ve showed us that with hard work and dedication you can break boundaries!! You’ve showed us that we could dream big! Keep going, and never give up…so THANK YOU!

To Mohamed Salah, I apologize on behalf of all the Egyptians for putting all this pressure on you. It’s unfair! But it’s because you’ve helped restore everyone’s faith! You gave all the Egyptians, especially the little boys and girls that have always been taught that there’s no way they can accomplish anything that isn’t realistic, an example to go by and to say “we can make it, we can be anything and everything we set our minds to!” You gave us a dream! And trust me, this faith and that dream isn’t going anywhere. Inshallah FIFA 2022 we will be ready!

And lastly, to all the Egyptians, we shouldn’t lose hope after this loss, we should continue having faith, that same faith we had right before today’s match. You shouldn’t call yourselves naive or pathetic for thinking we could actually win! It was a possibility that we haven’t had in 28 years, and it’s not going to stop here; so we should continue supporting our players for giving it all they’ve got! We should be giving them moral support rather than breaking them, because what Pepsi always says is true: “قوتنا في لمتنا”
