The French Consulate in Alexandria hosted a welcome reception dedicated to the new consul general to Alexandria, Mrs. Janaïna Herrera. The welcome ceremony started at 7pm, followed by canapes and drinks served to the sounds of local bands of Saint Marc & Sainte Jeanne Antide schools in the Consulate Garden. Among the attendees were French Ambassador H.E. Mr. Stephane Romatet, the French consul; Mrs. Janaina and husband, French community in Alexandria, parliament members, consuls and the who is who of Alexandria’s society.
In her speech, Consul General Herrera extended her deep feelings on representing France in alexandria and appreciated its pioneering role in promoting bilateral economic and business cooperation between France and Egypt in the past decades.
She also mentioned that Marseille, France is to host a big conference that she will attend and that will discuss the potential collaboration between the cities of the Mediterranean.
She will focus on the clean energy starting with the consulate building itself turning it into a ” Green Building”
SeeThru Magazine reported that on the sidelines of the celebration of the new consul general assignment at the French consulate in Alexandria, Ambassador Stéphane Romatet stated that the French President Emmanuel Macron plans on visiting Egypt in the coming months, following an invitation from President El-Sisi. Preparations are being made for the visit, which will include agreements between the two countries in the fields of security, economy, antiquities, and culture. This would be President Macron’s first visit to Egypt, who was elected into office in May 2017.
Ambassador Romatet added that relations between Egypt and France have recently witnessed development, emphasizing that maintenance of European security starts with Egypt, whose stability is key for the security of Mediterranean and of European countries.
