It’s not the first time a South African beauty wins the title Margaret Gardiner was crowned Miss Universe in 1978. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, South African model and beauty queen turned into Miss Universe 2017. The beauty’s career took off as she represented Western Cape while competing at the Miss South Africa 2017. Her beauty was inevitable, no doubt she was crowned Miss South Africa 2017.
Nel-Peters is a combination of confidence, ambition, beauty, and smartness. In the final round Steve Harvey asked Demi “What quality in yourself are you most proud of and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?” She lightly answered
“As Miss Universe you have to be confident in who you are as an individual. And Miss Universe is a woman that has overcome many fears and by that she is able to help other women to overcome their fears. She is a woman that nothing is ever too much to ask for and I think that is exactly who I am.”
The Western Cape native in a previous interview talked about how Demi’s experience in being held at gunpoint gave her the urge to train women how to defend themselves. Demi is planning to bring this passion with a self-defense program she helped in developing, to the Miss Universe program.
We could see that Demi is a true feminist, and she is willing to do so much to help all the fields she is going to be engaged in.
