Staff writer

We are looking for a staff writer to contribute to SeeThru’s growing platform. We’re seeking a smart, savvy pop culture obsessive to cover all the latest trends in the region and emerge them into their writing. Our ideal candidate is sharp, self-motivated, and versatile enough to write everything from breaking news stories to reported features and conversation-driving opinion pieces, all while displaying the signature mixture of fierce intelligence and distinct voice that defines SeeThru.

Staff writers are ideas machines, who research ideas, conduct interviews, write long and short articles and work closely with editors to keep to strict word counts and deadlines, ensuring everything’s in the appropriate tone of the publication, whether online or in print.

This writer will be responsible for delivering 1-2 articles per day focused on news and current events. This role will report to the Editor.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and write daily stories for seethrumag.com, as well as execute longer stories, reported features, interviews, commentary, and evergreen content, mixing news and social aggregation with original reporting
  • Pitch stories and photo-driven features that go beyond the news of the day, highlighting new trends, articulating new narratives, and discovering irresistible nuggets in unexpected places.
  • Communicate regularly with print and web editorial teams
  • Contribute content to SeeThru Magazine’s social media content
  • Work closely with Editor to develop sponsor-supported editorial projects 
  • Participate in and contribute to broader editorial brainstorms and ideas meetings 
  • Participate in coverage of events, openings, and other live events on the beat
  • Use traffic data and social-media feedback to find new coverage areas, optimize performance, and maintain consistent growth

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • BSc in English, Journalism, Media or relevant field and writing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using content management systems and major social media platforms
  • Broad, deep knowledge of the entertainment industry is a plus
  • Confidence and the ability to work in a fast paced/deadline oriented environment

Digital content creator

We are looking for a tech savvy digital artist with an eye for trends and a talent for making still images and videos both beautiful and entertaining. From fashion, beauty and design to technology, news, entertainment, food and fitness, we create content that audiences love. Being a part of SeeThru means creating some of the most compelling content in the industry—across all our platforms of digital, video, social, print and experiential. Within the confined regulations of marketing in the industry a sharp mind and imaginative foundation are a must! Our new Digital Content Creator has a unique opportunity to help us refine our brand and build our public image in undiscovered ways. You will be responsible for daily IG posts, updates to our website, and content we use for magazines, websites, and social media. We are always open to those with design experience who can add to our content, however this is not a requirement.

You will need to have experience of managing Creative products from start to finish, able to come up with ideas for Social Media and other Digital Marketing activities. From planning and storyboarding ideas through to creating the content e.g. filming & editing events, helping with the design of marketing material and writing content for Social Media.

This role calls for a talented all-rounder with initiative and drive along with a skill set that includes: Project Management, Basic Design Skills, Video Producing/Editing, Photography along with some Copywriting ability.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering the team’s articles directly to the audience on sites like Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram
  • Helps a magazine interact directly with its audience to keep them loving the brand
  • Decide what takes pride of place on the homepage, and monitor data and traffic to constantly make sure the website’s content garners high traffic and engagement from the reader
  • Prepare well-structured drafts using digital publishing platforms
  • Edit and proofread written pieces before publication

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital publishing and generating traffic and leads

Editor

We are looking to hire a Magazine Editor with outstanding writing, editing and creative skills. Magazine Editors are expected to possess fantastic planning, organizational and staff management skills with the ability to work comfortably under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

To ensure success, Magazine Editors should demonstrate a superb command of English with a keen interest in shaping a publication to distinguish the content to its target audience. Top candidates will display a great understanding of target audiences, and exhibit remarkable negotiation and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate story ideas for writing staff
  • Manage writing staff and freelance content producers
  • Approve content, appearance and layout of featured articles
  • Oversee photography, design and artwork to be used in the publication
  • Meet with writers and artists to discuss features, layouts and artwork
  • Comply with media law and industry regulations
  • Network actively at industry events
  • Proofread, edit and rewrite articles to meet publication standards
  • Attend photo shoots
  • Actively raise the profile of the publication
