• Chug water before sleep and chug water before sunrise. Fasting in this heat can cause dehydration and headaches, take an aspirin with your sohoor.

  • Eat sugary food to gain energy you lose throughout the day. But I don’t need to tell you that. Aren’t we all excited about gorging ourselves with delicious Ramadan treats? I know I am!

  • Ramadan sitcoms are the best. Indulge in them after work while sitting in an air-conditioned room. They’re a good way to relax until fitar time.
  • Have ice-cream for dessert from time to time, it’s greatly refreshing and doesn’t contain as many calories as konafa and atayef!

  • The best time to go to the gym or for a run is right before fitar; you won’t stay thirsty for too long and it will boost your metabolism. Anything you eat to break your fast will be burned much faster.

  • Take vitamins after eating. Try Vitamin D and Iron to help keep your energy up.
  • Another way to save energy before fitar time is to take a nap to reenergize your body. Sleep is essential during Ramadan as the body loses much of its energy throughout the day. It is necessary to get enough sleep so as to revitalize your body and be able to keep going.

  • If your mouth is feeling super dry, put ice on your lips, it’s extremely refreshing!

  • As many of us will not be able to go to the beach this Ramadan because of work or whatever, cold showers and handheld fans are a must.
  • Sip on water throughout the evening to keep you hydrated. Aim for 8 glasses by bedtime. To help you keep track, fill and refill a water bottle with a measured amount of water, and be sure to finish it.
