Just in case you’ve been locked away without internet for the past few days, earlier this week Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they’ll be stepping back as senior royals to “carve out a progressive new role” for themselves. In their announcement on Instagram, the royal couple said that they will continue to “fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” and that they’ll be working to become “financially independent.”
So what does that mean? What are Meghan and Harry going to do for money now that they’re cutting themselves off from the royals? It looks like we already have two clues as to the kinds of projects that Meghan will be taking on.
Firstly, Meghan is reportedly already in talks to work with fashion brands. A source told The Sun, “Meghan is very connected in the fashion industry and there are a lot of major labels who would like to partner with her on projects. There have already been active discussions with Givenchy. Some of these deals could be worth millions of pounds.” And Meghan has already done some fashion work during her time as a royal, so this makes total sense.
The Times also reports that Meghan has already signed a deal to do a voiceover for Disney. However, Meghan apparently agreed to do the work in exchange for a donation to a wildlife charity called Elephants Without Borders, so she’s not getting paid for this.
Question is, what are Harry’s plans?
