As long as you have a working internet cable and a Twitter account, then you couldn’t have possibly missed the circulating video where a poor fan asked the Mr. Robot star to say hi to their friends through video. However, this encounter turned out a little awkward for them.
THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST EMBARRASSING THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO ME pic.twitter.com/qIesyA3eWQ

Unfortunately for Xan, not only did the hilariously uncomfortable video make the rounds on Twitter, but it also went viral on other social networks like Instagram and Facebook, racking up at least a few million views. It seems like Rami was avoiding the video until his publicist told him it has been getting a lot of attention. Speaking to Vanity Fair, he said “I finally brought myself to watch it. I thought, âOh, thatâs not that bad. I donât find myself offensive…I am happy to take photos with anyone. I just want to be aware of what people are doing in the moment. When someone films you automatically, itâs a bit intrusive.â
The internet, as per usual, decided to have fun with the incident, and started making memes about it:

director: aaand… ACTION! we're rolling!
rami malek: no but we can take a picture— spicie meatball (@stuckinroutine) October 30, 2018
Surprisingly, even Rami Malek himself jumped on the bandwagon, finding it quite amusing. He brought it up on The Ellen Show, and posted a photo with a slick caption.
Some people thought what Rami did was uncalled for, and an unfair treatment to a fan that supports him; others believed that even though he refused their request, he did so politely and gracefully, and that he has a right to have his own personal space too. But I think we can all agree that at least the memes were pretty entertaining. A little hint; do not ask Rami Malek for a video if youâre ever lucky enough to meet him, but remember heâs always down for a photo!
