Sziget Festival is a huge music and cultural festival that takes place in Budapest every year. It all started in the wake of the fall of the Soviet Union as a means to offer arts programming for students. The festival has grown into one of the biggest and most iconic in the world. The part is hosted on the 266 acre Obuda Island, nicknamed the Island of Freedom, for an entire week each year in August. Sziget offers over a thousand performances and has been labelled the Burning Man of Europe for its spiritual atmosphere. The festival truly has something for everyone. Each year, a lineup consisting of the biggest names from all genres is presented across 9 stages as well as in boat parties, an amusement park, chill out areas, a beach and more. This year’s lineup is truly amazing.
8 August: Kendrick Lamar
9 August: Gorillaz
11 August: Mumford and Sons
13 August: Kygo & Shawn Mendes
14 August: Arctic Monkeys
The festival also includes many activities such as yoga and urban dance hip hop workshops. But perhaps our favorite part of Sziget is their color parties.
