According to Billboard, Taylor Swift’s new album, Evermore, which debuted on December 11, is officially her eighth studio album to reach number one on the Billboard 200. It’s her second album of the year to debut at the top of the chart.
It has sold one million copies worldwide after its release one week, bringing the star to a new record according to Swift’s Republic. The December release of evermore took audiences by surprise and also according to Billboard, earned 329,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending December 17.
The album is a companion to Swift’s folklore which dropped earlier this year in August and it’s the eighth release for Taylor to achieve this record in a row in her career. The folklore album launched by the superstar in the summer of 2020 also achieved the same numbers and continues to hold its place as the best selling in 2020.
Taylor also released a video clip for the song “Willow,” which she directed herself, and the song achieved a high rate of views, exceeding 35 million views on her YouTube channel.
