In a semi-public meeting by the president of America, it was reported that Donald Trump described some immigrants from African nations, Haiti and El Salvador specifically as coming from “Shithole countries”
He reportedly made the remarks at a White House meeting about immigration on Thursday. He used “vile, vulgar” language while repeating the word “shithole” several times in reference to African nations and others as the U.S senator, who attended the meeting, stated.
Rupert Colville, The UN human rights spokesman, said “There is no other word one can use but racist. You cannot dismiss entire countries and continents as ‘shitholes’, whose entire populations, who are not white, are therefore not welcome.” And the 55 nation African Union agreed by saying the remarks were “clearly racist”
In response to this horrible name-calling; Jessie Duarte, deputy secretary general of South Africa’s ruling African National Congress said to reporters “Ours is not a shithole country and neither is Haiti or any other country in distress,”
Trump the tweeted on twitter about how he merely used “tough” language when negotiating a new immigration bill with U.S Senators. The act is not that surprising, since trump has been pursuing controversial policies against immigration with an “America First” mindset since he took office.
