Some might say that Hacienda Bay has been the North Coast’s ‘it’ spot for the past few years. The compound seems to always be busy, with 6ix Degrees on the left and Lakeyard on the right.

Last year, our Instagram feeds were flooded with pictures of our friends posing in front of the Frida Kahlo mural, and everyone agrees that the decor of Lakeyard was a must-see. It made for the perfect evening stroll with “street” art of iconic figures all around, including Albert Einstein and Audrey Hepburn. Pop up shops carried the cutest things and the restaurants were on point. So where is all of that this year?

After many complaints from Hacienda Bay’s residents, Lakeyard is no longer operating the way it did last year. They claimed it was causing too much of a hustle and bustle, and to our dismay, we can’t disagree with them. If it had been located outside of the compound, that would be another thing.

If you visit Lakeyard now, you’ll find beanbags and a large screen where World Cup matches are played. That’s it. Nothing. We can’t say we’re not disappointed, but rumor has it, this area will be turned into a hotel next summer, which seems nice.

We guess we’ll have to wait and see!
